Bangladesh possesses significant potential in exporting saplings, given its fertile land and favorable climate. Although it initiated direct sapling exports in 2021, the sector’s growth has been hindered by inadequate government support and promotion. In year 2022-2023, 26,875 USD came from sapling export. Several entrepreneurs have exported 100,000 saplings to Qatar, Dubai. In the past four years, 4 more companies joined the export trade.
According to a report, the global plant factory market is set to grow from $121.9 billion in 2022 to $242.2 billion by 2032. Saudi Arabia, aims to plant 50 billion trees in the region, including 10 billion in Saudi Arabia, to reduce global carbon emissions by 2.5%. In 2022, Riyadh alone saw 60,000 trees planted, with a total of 8.4 million trees planted across the country. Bangladesh’s fruit tree saplings, including mango, jam, lemon, sapodilla, fig, neem, litchi, and flower trees have strong demand in market. Promoting this sector can contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.
