The government has adjusted commission rates for dealers and agents involved in petroleum fuel sales, despite reducing the commission percentages. This adjustment comes after the government raised petroleum fuel prices in August of the previous year. According to a gazette notification from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, the new commission rates are as follows: 4.28% for octane, 4.24% for petrol, 2% for kerosene, and 2.85% for diesel.
Previously, the commission rates were 4.9% for octane, 3% for petrol, 1.92% for kerosene, and 3% for diesel. As petroleum fuel prices increase by up to 51.7%, dealers and agents will receive higher commissions, with an additional Tk0.50 for octane and petrol and Tk0.28 for diesel. This adjustment comes after petrol pump owners went on strike in September, demanding increased commission rates, which were subsequently addressed by the government.
