The government is initiating the construction of three solar-based power plants with a total capacity of 370 MW in Bangladesh. The cabinet committee on public purchase has given approval for these projects, each having a 20-year tenure.
The first project involves a 200 MW solar power plant near the Barapukuria Coal mine in Dinajpur, with an estimated cost of Tk 7,168.80 crore. The second project entails a 70 MW solar power plant in Lama upazila of Bandarban, with an investment of Tk 2,486.40 crore. The third project comprises a 100 MW solar power plant to be established in Sonagazi upazila of Feni, with a budget of Tk 3,580.80 crore.
These initiatives align with Bangladesh’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and reduce reliance on conventional sources, contributing to a more sustainable and diversified energy mix.
