European investors in Bangladesh have voiced concerns about the country’s dollar shortage and energy security challenges at a seminar titled “Unlocking Trade and Investment for European Companies in Bangladesh.” The investors also raised issues related to high inflation, changes in tax and VAT laws, infrastructure limitations, and bureaucratic hurdles when seeking business licenses. They called on the government to implement sustainable policies and transparent energy supply mechanisms to attract more foreign direct investment. The Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh highlighted the importance of aligning labor laws with international standards for Bangladesh to gain market access under the GSP+ trade regime. Despite challenges, some investors expressed trust in Bangladesh as an investment destination.
