The SME Foundation is launching common facility centers (CFCs) to bring technology-based manufacturing to micro and small entrepreneurs across Bangladesh. The first CFC, featuring 13 state-of-the-art machines, was inaugurated in Rajshahi’s Kaluhati footwear cluster. These CFCs aim to enhance product quality, diversify offerings, boost production rates, and promote overall business development among entrepreneurs.
By reducing production costs and improving product quality, CFCs aim to expand Bangladesh’s export portfolio. In line with this initiative, the SME Foundation plans to establish similar facilities in Tangail, Bogura, and Jashore in the next fiscal year. These CFCs are especially beneficial for SMEs as they provide access to shared production and processing facilities, quality-improvement resources, training centers, design hubs, logistics support, and raw material banks.
