A concrete bridge, constructed at a cost of Tk 6.9 million over Itapota canal in Lalmonirhat district, has been non-functional for over a year due to the absence of approach roads on both sides. The bridge, which was completed in May 2022, remains unused as the contractor has not handed it over to the authorities. Local residents have resorted to using a bamboo bridge built alongside the concrete structure, putting their safety at risk. Approximately 15,000 people from nearby villages rely on the bamboo bridge for daily commutes. The lack of approach roads has hindered the utilization of the concrete bridge, highlighting the need for proper infrastructure planning and execution.
