In Hilli, the local Kazi market has witnessed a decline in the price of green chili, dropping from Tk 180-200 per kilogram to Tk 130-140 per kilogram due to increased domestic supply and uninterrupted imports from India. Consumers express satisfaction with the significant reduction.
Notably, a vendor reported purchasing 250 grams of green chili for Tk 50, which decreased to Tk 35 recently. This price fluctuation is attributed to decreased production caused by continuous rainfall, impacting supply. Farmers in various regions, including Panchbibi and Birampur, have initiated chili harvesting, anticipating improved weather conditions. The Hilli Customs House confirmed steady imports, with 13,600 kg and 16,720 kg of green chilies arriving, respectively. Customs authorities emphasize efficient clearance processes to prevent product deterioration.
