On October 12, 2023, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) continued its positive momentum, with the DSEX index gaining 13 points to close at 6,269. The Shariah index DSES and blue-chip DS30 also saw modest increases, settling at 1,358 and 2,142, respectively. The daily turnover at the DSE was Tk418 crore, with 112 stocks advancing, 31 declining, and 165 remaining unchanged.
Investors were actively pursuing sector-specific opportunities for quick gains, particularly ahead of earnings and dividend announcements for the last fiscal year. Insurance stocks gained momentum due to the interest of short-term gain-focused investors with positive expectations.
Union Insurance was the most traded stock, with 22.75 lakh shares traded at Tk15.19 crore. Other top-traded shares included Paramount Insurance, National Feed Mill, and National Tea Company.
On the Chittagong Stock Exchange, the selected indices CSCX and All Share Price Index Caspi also advanced by 17.5 and 29.0 points, respectively, indicating a positive sentiment on the port city bourse.
