The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is commencing a month-long program to sell essential items at subsidized rates for approximately 10 million families nationwide. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the initiative in Dhaka, offering subsidized soybean oil, sugar, rice, lentils, and onions.
Cardholders can purchase 5.0 kilograms of rice at Tk 30 per kg, along with other commodities at specified prices. The TCB plans to distribute smart cards to existing cardholders gradually. During the drive, sugar will be available until stock depletion, and strict action will be taken against any anomalies in the sales process. The sale of rice and onions is limited to the Dhaka metropolitan area. The initiative aims to ensure access to essential commodities at affordable prices for the population.
