The renovation of the old Kalurghat Bridge in Bangladesh is expected to be completed by the end of October 2023. Railways officials visited the bridge to assess repair progress and the new Chattogram-Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar-Gumdhum (CDCG) rail route. The renovation work began on August 1. The government plans to construct a new road-cum-rail bridge at Kalurghat next year. Additionally, the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar rail link will be connected to the Matarbari deep-sea port, with expectations for the rail track to be completed by October 30, in time for a train service inauguration in Cox’s Bazar on November 12.
