CTG Custom to Auction 25 Tonnes of Apples

Industry: Food

The Customs House in Chattogram is set to auction 25 tonnes of apples, with a reserve price of Tk42,35,000, equating to Tk166 per kg. Additionally, a public auction for 12 tonnes of Premium Enzyme Solution has been scheduled, priced at Tk14,65,625.

The announcement was made through loudspeakers in the vicinity, as per Customs authorities. These auctions of perishable goods complement regular auction activities. The apples were imported by Madina Trading Company from China, while German Chemical Ltd brought the Premium Enzyme Solution from China.

The decision to auction the goods stems from delays in unloading and releasing deliveries. This follows a recent auction of 28 tonnes of buffalo meat imported from India, conducted without proper procedures, where the highest bid exceeded the market value.
