The fourth shipment of uranium, the nuclear fuel for Bangladesh’s Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, has arrived in Rooppur under tight security. The convoy, carrying the fresh nuclear fuel, entered the project area, with both Bangladeshi and Russian project personnel warmly welcoming it. The uranium was transported from Dhaka, crossing the Bangabandhu Bridge to reach the Rooppur project area. This milestone marks Bangladesh’s entry into the world’s nuclear power producer community. The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is expected to start operation in 2024, capable of generating 2,400 MW of power. Bangladesh’s nuclear energy ambitions reflect the growing global use of nuclear power for electricity generation.
