Unilever Consumer Care Limited (UCCL), the producer of Horlicks in Bangladesh, reported a notable 25% YoY increase in net profit during the first nine months of 2023, reaching Tk 67.8 crore. Despite a 6% decline in overall sales to Tk 300 crore, the company strategically reduced operating costs by 37% to Tk 51 crore, contributing to this positive financial outcome.
Additionally, net finance income saw a remarkable surge of 627%, reaching Tk 12.22 crore. The earnings per share (EPS) rose from Tk 28.04 to Tk 35.19 in January-September 2023. UCCL, formerly GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Ltd, attributed the improved EPS to efficiency in operating expenses and one-off benefits from reassessing past liabilities.
The company also received a waiver of technical assistance fees and royalties from the parent company for 2023. Unilever Overseas Holdings BV acquired 81.98% of UCCL shares in June 2020. As of 11.48 am, the company’s shares rose 0.70% to Tk 2,050 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
