US Dollar Falls to Tk 126

Economic Tag: Forex

The US dollar’s kerb market value in Bangladesh fell to Tk 126, attributed to increased supply and reduced demand, down from Tk 127 on Thursday. The rate, which had experienced volatility for over a year, hit a low of Tk 123.

Recent media reports indicating banks offering Tk 124 per dollar to promote formal channels contributed to the fluctuation. Associations advised banks not to exceed Tk 115 on November 8, with Bangladesh Bank warning against higher remittance payments. Verbal instructions from the central bank suggested currency exchangers could buy at Tk 117 and sell at Tk 118.5, with a maximum commission of Tk 1.5. Further declines are anticipated.
