The prices of essential commodities have exhibited various trends. Flour and sugar prices surged due to mill owners citing supply shortages, with unpackaged flour rising by Tk 5 to Tk 50 per kilogram, while packaged refined flour increased by Tk 5 to Tk 70-75 per kilogram.
In contrast, beef prices experienced a significant decline in some areas, dropping to Tk 600 per kilogram, while in other areas, prices ranged from Tk 700 to Tk 780 per kilogram. Despite a 50% cut in customs duty on sugar imports, the price continued to rise by Tk 10-15 per kilogram. Rice prices remained high, with coarse and medium-quality varieties selling for Tk 52–56 per kilogram. Onions, edible oil, ginger, garlic, and potatoes also retained high prices, contributing to increased living costs for consumers.
