The modernization of Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport faces fuel supply risks due to construction-related disruptions. The ongoing work, including a new terminal and runway expansion, led to the exposure of the jet fuel supply hydrant line and the cutting of the optical fiber cable (OFC) in the depot’s PLC system.
Padma Oil Company alerted the airport director about the potential interruption in jet fuel supply. The letter emphasizes the importance of reconnecting the Emergency Shut Off Button (ESB) to ensure safety during aircraft refueling and prevent complications arising from fuel supply disruptions. The airport director downplays the issue, stating that the fuel supply remains normal. The airport’s mega-project cost is estimated at Tk 2,309 crores, aiming to handle two million passengers annually.
