During a discussion at the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in Dubai, a representative from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources emphasized the vital role of solar power in securing the prosperity of future generations. Bangladesh aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 61.9 million tons of CO2 by 2030, with a focus on promoting renewable energy and solar power.
The country added 300 MW of solar power last year, with 37 projects underway for an additional 2,400 MW. Bangladesh is actively promoting solar technology innovations, such as floating solar power, solar home systems, and mini-grids, due to land constraints. The Integrated Energy and Power Master Plan-2023 aligns with ISA’s vision, targeting 50.4 trillion Watt Hours of clean electricity imports annually by 2050. The discussion also highlighted the necessity of expanding renewable energy for sustainable development and a clean future.
