CTG Customs Achieves 7.7% Revenue Growth

Industry: Logistics & Shipping, Shipping

Chattogram Custom House (CCH) reported a 7.7% YoY growth in November’s fiscal year 2023-24 revenue, reaching Tk5,901 crore. Despite falling short of the targeted Tk6,937 crore by Tk1,035.76 crore (14.93%), the cumulative revenue from July to November increased by 8.74%, totaling Tk28,037 crore.

The surge is attributed to recent imports, higher import prices due to a stronger dollar, tariff adjustments, and customs vigilance against evasion and fraud. Barrister Md Bodruzzaman Munshi, CCH spokesperson, highlighted the positive impact on the economy, crediting initiatives combating smuggling and fraud. However, the five-month revenue of Tk28,037 crore fell 11.61% short of the Tk31,720 crore target for the fiscal year.
