The single-point mooring (SPM) project at Cox’s Bazar’s Moheshkhali has efficiently released 60,000 tonnes of diesel in its initial 35 operational hours. A dedicated deep-sea pipeline facilitated the transport of diesel, imported by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for Eastern Refinery Ltd, between December 5 and December 7, 2023.
The project, located about 16 km off the Moheshkhali coast, features two parallel pipelines for crude oil and diesel. Compared to the previous method, this pipeline, capable of transporting 2,900 cubic meters of fuel per hour, significantly reduces transport time, allowing BPC to save approximately Tk 800 crore annually by transporting oil directly to storage tanks.
