The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has formed a 14-member committee to assess the viability of using LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) as an alternative energy source in industries due to the ongoing natural gas supply challenges.
The committee, tasked with framing a draft policy within two months, will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of industrial LPG use and propose incentives to promote its adoption. Comprising representatives from various sectors, the committee responds to the government’s effort to address the increased demand for LPG, which has risen to approximately 1.4 million tonnes annually. This initiative aims to ensure a stable energy supply amid reduced natural gas availability for households.
