The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is providing agricultural support to 33,000 smallholder farmers in four districts of Bangladesh – Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar, and Chattogram, spanning 23 Upazilas. This initiative is made possible through financial aid from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and the Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation (SFERA) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA).
The support includes rice seeds, 12 types of vegetable seeds, fertilizers, spades, water cans, and rice storage silos. FAO has distributed agricultural inputs to households affected by flash floods in Chattogram division, particularly in Bandarban Sadar union under Sadar Upazila of Bandarban district, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE). The distribution aims to restore livelihoods and ensure resilience in targeted areas, showcasing solidarity between the government, FAO, and the farming community.
