The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) has restricted 80% of Aamra Technologies Limited’s bandwidth capacity as an internet gateway service provider due to the company’s failure to clear Tk22 crore in revenue-sharing dues to the government. The move may lead to disruptions in the company’s internet services to clients.
BTRC Commissioner Musfiq Mannan Choudhury stated that the issue originated from Aamra Technologies’ non-payment to the Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited, prompting the initial bandwidth cut. This is not the first instance, as in July 2023, BTRC had previously blocked 50% of Aamra Technologies’ bandwidth for non-payment, which was later restored upon settling the dues. As of June 30, 2023, the company’s unpaid revenue-sharing dues to BTRC stood at Tk16.25 crore out of Tk43.75 crore.
