Emerald Oil plans to invest Tk 400 crore in a new plant at Jamalpur Economic Zone to boost rice bran oil production for export, targeting 100 tonnes daily. The plant aims for commercial operations by March 2025. Facing a gas crisis, the company opened a letter of credit to import husk broilers for uninterrupted production. Minori Bangladesh’s chairman, disclosed a deal with Dubai’s Safa Capital for project funding within three years, allowing share sale and loans with shares in lien. Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission approval has been granted for keeping additional shares as margin. Emerald Oil, backed by Minori Bangladesh, struggled until 2022. Presently producing 56-60 tonnes daily, the new project’s rice bran oil will be exported to Japan. In FY2022-23, sales surged to Tk 111 crore, with profits reaching Tk 6.6 crore.
