Around 400 metric tons of potatoes were imported from India through Benapole, Bangladesh’s largest land port, within two days. The government permitted the import of various commodities, including potatoes, tea leaves, pulses, wheat, eggs, onions, and chili peppers. The potatoes were transported in 16 trucks from India’s Petrapole port to Benapole. Integrated Food and Beverage served as the importer, with PepsiCo India Holdings being the exporting company. Each ton of potatoes costs $194, totaling the import value. The importation process involves submitting necessary documents for clearance, and the shipment is set to be released after quality testing.
