Two Bangladeshi non-governmental organizations, Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, and JAAGO Foundation Trust, have received a grant of $306,692, or roughly Tk 33.5 million, from the Japanese government. Iwama Kiminori, the Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh, signed “grant contracts” with the corresponding organizations on March 24 for the Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) at the Japanese embassy.
Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute has received a grant of $83,424 to enhance its medical system for children with haematological diseases. The grant will enable the purchase and installation of three medical devices, including a refrigerator centrifuge machine, plasma storage freezer, and automated aphaeresis machine. On the other hand, JAAGO Foundation Trust has received a $223,268 grant to establish a digital school in Bandarban district. The two-story reinforced concrete primary and secondary school will improve access to high-quality education, enabling students to complete up to 12 years of secondary school certificate exams.
