The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling Indian onions at Tk 40 per kilogram (kg) in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Chattogram cities. Consumers can buy two kilograms at a time with TCB-issued cards. State Minister for Commerce will inaugurate the program at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka. Currently, local and imported onions are selling for Tk 45 to Tk 70 per kg in Dhaka. The government aims to stabilize the supply chain and control onion prices by importing 50,000 tonnes from India, with 1,650 tonnes already arriving by train.
