Bibiana Gas Reserves Depleted Sooner Than Expected

Industry: Energy & Power, LNG

The highest supply of gas to the national grid currently originates from the Bibiana gas field in Habiganj.  By December of last year, approximately 5,795.2 BCF of gas had been extracted from the field. This indicates that an additional 40 BCF of gas was extracted from the field three months ago, suggesting that the reserves have been exhausted sooner than expected.

Chevron operates three gas fields in Bangladesh, including Bibiana. These three fields collectively contribute significantly to the daily gas supply to the national grid. However, despite Bibiana’s prominent role in gas supply, it’s crucial to accurately determine the remaining reserves and intensify exploration efforts to ensure continued gas production.
