Prices of pulses and spices in Chittagong’s Khatunganj market have dropped significantly. Onion prices decreased by 20 taka/kg in two days, now selling at 40-45 taka/kg. Cumin, previously at Tk 1,200/kg, now costs Tk 600/kg due to increased supply and stable imports. Dry chillies decreased by Tk 50-60/kg to Tk 290, while domestic ones dropped to Tk 230-235/kg. Turmeric reduced by Tk 10-12/kg to Tk 255, domestic turmeric by Tk 8-10/kg to Tk 225. Fenugreek dropped by Tk 10-15/kg to Tk 120, black cumin by Tk 25/kg to Tk 275, and cinnamon by Tk 20-30/kg to Tk 300-330. Cardamom increased to Tk 2,900/kg, while cloves rose by Tk 60-70/kg to Tk 1,500. Nutmeg remains stable at Tk 650-660/kg. Market demand reduction mainly caused the decline, with increased onion imports contributing significantly.
