The government of Bangladesh has taken steps to address the growing demand for natural gas by approving the import of three cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This decision was made during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase, where three proposals from the state-owned Petrobangla were approved.
According to the approved proposals, the LNG cargoes will be supplied by various companies. Switzerland-based Total Energy and Power Ltd will supply one LNG cargo at a cost of Tk 427.77 crore, with each unit priced at $9.89. Singapore-based Gunvor Group will provide another LNG cargo at a cost of Tk 410.65 crore, with each unit priced at $9.65. The third LNG cargo will be supplied by Vitol Asia (Pte) Ltd, Singapore, at a cost of Tk 418.59 crore, with each unit priced at $9.68.
