Imports of potatoes surged through the Hili land port in Dinajpur, yet prices of Indian and native varieties remained high. Indian potatoes rose by Tk 8/kg and desi potatoes by Tk 10-15/kg. Post-Eid, local garlic surged by Tk 100/kg, imported ginger by Tk 60/kg, and domestic onion by Tk 10/kg. Prices escalated due to halted imports during extended holidays, causing supply shortages. Pre-Eid prices of local potatoes, ranging from Tk 35-40/kg, spiked to Tk 45-55/kg. Desi garlic surged from Tk 80 to Tk 180/kg, Chinese ginger from Tk 180 to Tk 240/kg, and domestic onion from Tk 45 to Tk 55/kg. Amidst this, 693 metric tons of potatoes arrived via 27 Indian trucks at Hili, wholesaling at Tk 39-40/kg, with Import Permits expiring on the 30th.
