During an interaction with journalists, The European Union (EU) ambassador to Bangladesh reiterated the EU’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh in its efforts to combat climate vulnerability and expand renewable energy.
The ambassador emphasized the EU’s leadership in climate action and financing for both mitigation and adaptation efforts in developing countries. He mentioned the EU’s role in establishing the loss and damage agreement at COP and reiterated the EU’s commitment to addressing climate change.
Acknowledging Bangladesh’s vulnerability to climate change, Whiteley stressed the importance of learning from past mistakes and developing climate-friendly industries. He also emphasized the responsibility of major polluting countries to contribute to global decarbonization efforts.
