Bangladesh Bank announced that non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) are prohibited from approving loans to new industries lacking no-objection certificates from their electricity and gas suppliers. This decision, made during a cabinet committee meeting on February 7, extends a previous directive issued to commercial banks. Additionally, the meeting resolved that industrial establishments planned outside designated economic or industrial zones will be denied electricity and gas connections.
