The Capital Market Journalists’ Forum (CMJF) vehemently opposes and protests the Bangladesh Bank’s decision to restrict journalists’ access to its premises. CMJF urges the central bank to fulfill its professional responsibilities by immediately reinstating journalists’ access, emphasizing that access to Bangladesh Bank for news gathering is a constitutional right.
CMJF asserts that the central bank’s decision comes at a critical time of discussions on bank mergers and during a visit by an International Monetary Fund delegation, posing a risk to Bangladesh’s global image. The forum calls on the government to investigate the motives behind this decision and whether any anti-national conspiracy is involved.
