Highlighting the persistent deficit in Bangladesh’s financial account, the IMF stresses the necessity of introducing flexible exchange rates to address this imbalance. These remarks were made during a virtual press conference held to release the Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and Pacific economies from Singapore. Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, emphasized the importance of transitioning towards a flexible currency exchange rate regime to better manage economic challenges and enhance financial stability.
