The turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) surpassed Tk 1,000 crore for the first time in three months, reaching Tk 1,095 crore, marking a 34 % increase from the previous day. Pharmaceuticals led the turnover chart, constituting 20.68 % of the total market turnover.
Meanwhile, the DSEX, the benchmark index, continued its winning streak for the fifth consecutive day, climbing 34.95 points, or 0.61 %, to close at 5,727.02. The DSES, representing Shariah-compliant companies, rose by 10.52 points, or 0.84%, to 1,261.50. Similarly, the DS30, comprising 30 top blue-chip stocks, surged by 13.36 points, or 0.66 %, to 2,046.81.
Out of the stocks traded at the DSE, 252 saw gains, 86 declined, and 58 remained unchanged. Notably, non-bank financial institutions, services, and real estate sectors closed positively, while food and allied, life insurance, and bank sectors ended the day in negative territory, according to UCB Stock Brokerage’s daily market update.
