The Dhaka Stock Exchange’s key index, DSEX, fell to a two-week low on 14th May, shedding 81.14 points (1.43%) to close at 5,585.62 due to widespread selloffs driven by investor pessimism. The blue-chip index, DS30, and the Shariah-based index, DSES, also declined to 1,991.93 and 1,225.77 points, respectively. All large-cap sectors posted negative performances, reflecting the subdued market sentiment. Market turnover dropped significantly by 31.4% to Tk 664 crore from the previous session’s Tk 968 crore. Consequently, the Dhaka bourse’s market capitalization decreased by Tk 7,120 crore, settling at Tk 7.04 lakh crore.
