Bangladesh aims for $110 billion in export earnings by fiscal year 2026-27, a significant rise from the current target, as outlined in the draft Export Policy 2024-2027 approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday. The new policy seeks to boost the country’s goods and services exports over the next three years from the present target of $72 billion.
Despite the ambitious target, there is some skepticism among economists regarding its feasibility. Official data indicates that the export proceeds for the current fiscal year 2023-24 have fallen short, with $47.47 billion earned during the July-April period. This figure represents a 3.93% annual growth but is 6.87% below the target.
