The Rooppur nuclear and Matarbari coal-fired power plant projects, along with metro rail projects, are set to receive the highest allocations in the upcoming Tk 2,65,000 crore Annual Development Programme (ADP) in Bangladesh. These projects will collectively receive Tk 34,043 crore, comprising 12.84% of the ADP. Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant’s six projects will get Tk 12,544 crore, while Matarbari’s five projects will receive Tk 14,962 crore. The Rooppur plant, with a budget of Tk 1,14,225 crore, aims to start power generation by March 2025. Additionally, Matarbari’s 1200MW coal-fired power plant’s second unit will begin operations by July. Metro rail projects, including the complete Uttara-Motijheel section of MRT Line 6, will receive Tk 6,537 crore. MRT Line 1 and MRT Line 5 will get Tk 3,594 crore and Tk 968 crore, respectively, with major construction starting in the next fiscal year.
