Despite achieving better sales in the first half of the fiscal year 2022–23, the state-run listed power grid management and transmission entity, The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh sinks into losses. According to the corporation, the main cause was a substantial loss brought on by the local currency’s decline against international currencies.

During the months of July and December, its income increased 5.5% year over year to Tk 1,225 crore. But this could not prevent the company from incurring a loss of Tk 281 crore. In the first half of the fiscal year 2022–23, the company lost Tk 729 crore on foreign exchange. It was a loss of Tk 75 crore compared to the same time last year.
