Rampal plant’s Unit-1 starts power production

After being shut down for a month due to a coal shortage, the 1320 MW Rampal power plant’s first unit will start producing electricity again today.

According to BIFPCL, a ship carrying 30,000 tonnes of coal arrived in the country on February 9 and a second shipment carrying 50,000 tonnes is scheduled to arrive on February 18.

The Bangladeshi and Indian governments collaborated to build the Rampal Power Plant. On December 17 of last year, the mega power plant’s first unit started producing 660 MW of electricity on a commercial basis.
