The first unit of  Rampal Thermal Power Plant’s  660 MW generating capacity was shut down on January 14. Because of the currency issue, it is now unable to create an LC, which stops coal imports. The interruption of the coal supply from Indonesia caused the Rampal plant to abruptly stop producing electricity. The delay in the dollar’s release is the cause of this issue. As soon as the issue was resolved, a ship carrying fresh coal departed from that location. Within a week, the ship bringing coal will dock at Rampal Power Plant.

According to the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh the coal situation is a practical problem They are working and hoping this crisis will soon be over. Within the next three months, two units of the Bagerhat Rampal Thermal Power Plant will be completely operational and producing electricity.

From now on, coal will arrive regularly. Starting in June, the Rampal power station will once more produce electricity using coal. According to the official report, work is being done hard to produce electricity from the second unit. It won’t be difficult to produce 1,320 megawatts of electricity in total.
