Runner inaugurates country’s first three-wheeler manufacturing plant

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited Malaysia to fully manufacture Perodua cars in Bangladesh. This call was made during a farewell meeting with the outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner. Currently, PHP Motors assembles Perodua cars in Bangladesh. The Prime Minister's Press Secretary noted the strong bilateral relationship dating back to the era of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Ministry of Finance will extend the ban on foreign travel and new car purchases for government employees in FY 2024-25, covering both development and operating budgets. This includes restrictions on honoraria for construction work, land acquisition, training, and meetings.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has tightened rules on importing microbuses as ambulances due to widespread misuse. A minimum cabin length of nine feet is now required for eligibility, affecting models like Toyota Noah. This decision, announced alongside the unveiling of a Tk 7.97 lakh crore budget for 2024-25, aims to curb misuse of duty exemptions, which can amount to Tk 12 lakh per import.
