TK 57 Crore incentives allocated for farmers

Farmers in the country will receive Taka 57.25 crore in incentives for increasing the area and production of Aus paddy. The traditional rice variety presently accounts for around 8.97% of total cropped land and produces more than 3 million tonnes.

Almost 10 lakh small and marginal farmers will benefit from the incentive by receiving free seeds and fertilizer to cultivate the rice variety.

Aus cultivation produces 6.88 percent of the country’s total output of rice, with local varieties accounting for 0.98 percent and modern varieties for only 5.91 percent. Under the circumstances, each farmer will receive 5 kg of seed.
