Tk deflation and high inflation severely affected Robi in 2022

Summit Communications recently faced a reversal of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission's (BTRC) decision to allow the company to transfer shares without paying a 5.5 percent fee. This decision, initially made in June, came under scrutiny due to Summit's close political ties, including connections to the Awami League leadership. 

Floodwaters in the eastern parts of the country are receding, revealing significant devastation and a need for post-flood support. In response, Banglalink has launched a seven-day "connect and contribute" campaign to help flood-affected communities recover. Through this campaign, for every purchase of Banglalink’s monthly packs priced at Tk 497, Tk 647, and Tk 798, the company will donate Tk 100 to flood victims until September 7, with no extra cost to customers.

People across the country are stepping up to help those affected by the severe floods that have submerged millions of homes and farmlands in 11 districts, affecting nearly 4.5 million people. Many organizations are contributing relief funds by donating at least one day's salary from their employees.

Internet usage in Bangladesh surged by 10.05% in the first half of 2024, with user numbers rising from 129.18 million in January to 142.17 million by June. Mobile internet users grew from 116.30 million to 129.17 million, an 11.06% increase, while broadband users rose from 12.88 million to 13.53 million, a 5.05% growth.

SBAC Bank PLC and Grameenphone have signed an agreement to collaborate on transaction and promotional bulk SMS services, as well as value-added digital services. The agreement was finalized on Wednesday, with representatives from both organizations present at the signing ceremony. The collaboration aims to enhance digital communication and service offerings between the two companies.

Banglalink has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Army to provide immediate relief to flood-affected communities in southeastern and eastern Bangladesh. This partnership aims to deliver essential aid and maintain network connectivity in the impacted regions. Additionally, Banglalink is exploring ways to support post-flood recovery efforts.
