Narayanganj has seen a 10.48% increase in VAT revenue collection, reaching Tk243.76 crore from July to April of the current fiscal year, up by Tk23.12 crore compared to the same period last fiscal year, according to the Narayanganj Customs, Excise, and VAT office. Last year, collections amounted to Tk220.63 crore.
Despite the increase, the revenue is still significantly below the Tk570.36 crore target for the current fiscal year. However, officials are optimistic that the revenue for the remaining two months will surpass the total collected in the previous fiscal year, which was Tk306.42 crore.
In April alone, revenue collection was Tk28.38 crore, a 21.45% increase from April of the previous fiscal year. Government initiatives have boosted revenue by 5.37%, and enhanced oversight has led to an 18.07% growth in labour sector revenue, which is expected to exceed 20% by June.
