In the business world of Data Analysis and Business Intelligence, there are powerful tools that enable professionals to extract meaningful insights from vast amounts of data. Excel, Power BI, Power Pivot, and Power Query are four such tools that have revolutionized the way data is managed, analyzed and visualized.

This is an introductory level course for Business and Data Analytics. The objective of this training to offer understanding of Basic Analytics concepts, developing competencies on how to perform data analysis in Excel, and gain proficiency in data visualization and analysis using Power BI.

After finishing the training, you will have the expertise to implement business intelligence solutions to your organisation using tools such as Excel or Power BI that will improve the current reporting system and add greater depth in the business decision making process.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

1. You will gain an advanced level of understanding on the types of data, overview of Data analytics and its importance in decision-making.
2. You will learn the analytics process: data collection, data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and interpretation
3. You will learn how to use advanced Excel Statistical functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables and PivotCharts etc.)
4. You will learn how to gather, transform, model and visualize data with Power BI
5. You will learn how to use Excel and Power BI data solutions to your orginisations

 TRAINING CONTENT:

Session 1: Introduction to Analytics.

Duration: 1 hour

1. Overview of analytics and its importance in decision-making
2. Introduction to basic analytics concepts: data types, variables, measures, etc.
3. Understanding the analytics process: data collection, data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and interpretation

Session 2: Data Analysis in Excel (2 hours)

1. Introduction to Excel for data analysis
2. Data import and cleaning techniques in Excel
3. Basic data manipulation and transformation using Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH)
4. Introduction to PivotTables and PivotCharts for data summarization and visualization

Session 3: Advanced Data Analysis in Excel (2 hours)

1. Advanced data manipulation techniques: using array formulas, Power Query, and Power Pivot
2. Performing statistical analysis in Excel: descriptive statistics, regression analysis, etc.
3. Introduction to Excel macros for automating repetitive tasks

Session 4: Introduction to Power BI (3 hours)

1. Overview of Power BI and its features
2. Importing data into Power BI from different sources (Excel, databases, web, etc.)
3. Creating relationships between data tables in Power BI
4. Building basic visualizations (bar charts, line charts, pie charts, etc.) in Power BI
5. Introduction to Power BI DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating calculated columns and measures
6. Publishing and sharing Power BI reports and dashboards

ADDITIONAL TIPS:

• Provide hands-on exercises and real-world examples throughout the training sessions to reinforce learning.
• Encourage participants to follow along with demonstrations using their own laptops equipped with Excel and Power BI.
