11 out of 36 banks listed on the stock market disclosed their audited financial reports for 2023. With only ICB Islamic Bank reporting a loss, the remaining ten banks collectively achieved a net profit of Tk 5,232 crore, marking a 22% increase from the previous year. Notably, eight of these banks saw their net profits rise compared to the prior year. Among them, Dutch-Bangla Bank experienced a remarkable 41 percent increase in net profit, with its earnings per share (EPS) rising from Tk 7.57 to Tk 10.72.
In terms of dividends, several banks opted for higher payouts. BRAC Bank declared a 15% dividend up from 7.5% cash dividend last year. Citi announced a 25% dividend, including 15% cash, compared to 12% total dividend last year. Dutch-Bangla Bank increased its total dividend to 35 percent, with 17.5% in cash. Pubali Bank maintained a 12.5% cash dividend and added a 12.5% bonus dividend, while Uttara Bank offered a 17.5% cash dividend along with a 12.5% bonus dividend.
