14,400 Farmers in Jashore to Receive Subsidies to Cultivate Ayush

In eight upazilas in the district, 14,400 small and marginal farmers would receive free seeds and fertilizer as part of an agricultural incentive and rehabilitation program in order to stimulate farmer interest in Ufshi Aush farming during the current Kharif-1 season.

According to a Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official, any farmer who plants Ufshi Aush on a single bigha of land will receive five kg of Ufshi Aush seeds, ten kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, and five kg of muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer at no cost. Out of the total number of beneficiaries, the district’s Sadar upazila has 2,200 farmers, followed by Sharsha upazila with 2,300, Jhikargachha with 1,800, Chowgacha with 1,800, Abhaynagar with 1,200, Bagherpara with 1,400, Monirampur with 2,700, and Keshabpur upazila with 1,000 farmers.

Govt’s Aman Paddy Procurement Stalls at 8.75% Despite Price Hike

The government's Aman paddy procurement has reached only 8.75% of its 3.5 lakh-tonne target, despite a Tk3 per kg price hike, as farmers prefer selling in the open market due to better prices and fewer hassles. So far, 26,277 tonnes of paddy, 430,206 tonnes of rice, and 77,000 tonnes of Atap rice have been collected, with Atap rice procurement continuing until 15 March.
