Twenty-six directors have been removed from the boards of 13 state-owned companies under the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources. These removals, ordered by the Joint Secretary of the Energy Department, include individuals appointed for political reasons, such as former state ministers, private secretaries, and other political figures. The excluded directors come from various companies, including Sylhet Gas Field, Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited, Sundarban Gas Company Limited, Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company, Bangladesh Exploration and Production Company Limited (Bapex), Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited, Titus Gas Company, Converted Natural Gas Company, Eastern Refinery Limited, Jamuna Oil Company, Padma Oil Company, and Meghna Petroleum Company Limited. The removals aim to address issues such as lack of knowledge about company operations, lobbying, undue interference, and misuse of facilities.
