The recent increase in the price of the dollar has had a significant impact on consumer goods in Bangladesh, leading to a surge in prices across various products. Import and transportation costs have risen, prompting retailers to adjust their prices accordingly.
In the country’s largest wholesale market, Khatunganj, it has been found that the prices of 13 products have increased up to 26%. For example, cinnamon, which was previously sold at 380 takas per kg, is now being sold at 480 takas, marking a 26.31 %increase. Similarly, the price of onions has also risen by 23 % due to high tariffs and increased dollar value.
